Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Symposium “Agriculture and Food Sustainability: New Climate Change Scenarios”, with the support of the University of Madeira, through ISOPlexis – Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technology, and partners. The Symposium will take place from 11th to 13th October 2021 in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Considering the current pandemic situation, the Symposium will be a hybrid event, and is available for all those who wish to attend virtually.
Climate change is a global concern and the main topic to be discussed at the Symposium. In the next 30 years, carbon dioxide and global temperatures are expected to rise, rainfall will decrease and, therefore, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather conditions are expected to have a significant impact on agriculture, agrosystems, and crop productivity. There is a clear demand for immediate action in this new climate scenario, which must involve global and local strategies.
Our main aim is to provide an opportunity for discussion and exchange of knowledge and experience between researchers and others who share an interest in Climate Change and Food Sustainability. Therefore, we invite everyone, including students, researchers, industry members, and policy makers to share your recent findings on this topic. We believe that your participation will contribute to the success of this event.
We look forward to welcoming you in Madeira!
