European Researchers' Night 2023
CITAB was represented with various activities in Coimbra, Évora, and Armamar
The European Researchers' Night 2023 was an outstanding success, and this year, CITAB researchers made an incredible impact at three different locations - Coimbra, Évora, and Armamar. This annual event celebrating science and research drew a diverse and enthusiastic audience, with a significant presence of curious children eager to explore the world of scientific discovery.
In Coimbra, CITAB researchers José Moutinho Pereira, Lia-Tânia Dinis, Sandra Pereira, Ana Monteiro and Cátia Brito presented a wide array of interactive experiments and demonstrations in an activity called "To catch plants in broad daylight, in the act of 'capturing' carbon from the air...". The young and inquisitive minds in attendance had the opportunity to engage with our experts, learn about cutting-edge research, and witness firsthand the commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
In Évora, Ana Faustino shared her knowledge through the activity "Anatomy and Art: Hand in Hand." with an equally enthusiastic crowd. Their presentations and hands-on activities provided a unique opportunity for attendees to grasp the importance of research.
In Armamar, Maria José Saavedra and Ana Rita Pinto presented the activity 'Antibiotic Resistance; Alternatives to Antimicrobials with By-Products; Circular Economy". This activity served to promote the discussion and awareness of the growing problem of antibiotic resistance, its causes, and implications for public health.
Also in Armamar, Hélia Gonçalves had the opportunity to engage with young, curious scientists eager to understand why "owls are the farmer's best friend." The activity allowed the younger ones to grasp subjects such as biodiversity, avifauna, or the conservation of natural resources.
The participation of CITAB researchers in these three locations exemplified their dedication to promoting and disseminating scientific knowledge. The European Researchers' Night 2023 was a true celebration of research, providing a platform for researchers to engage with the public and inspire the next generation of scientists.
