🚨 Advanced Research Grant in Oncology

The project will be developed under the guidance of Paula Oliveira, a researcher at CITAB.

UTAD received, for the first time, an Advanced Research Grant in Oncology, awarded by the Portuguese League Against Cancer – Northern Regional Centre. This distinction reinforces the recognition of the quality of scientific research carried out at the institution and its contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of cancer.

The grant, worth €18,000 and lasting one year, was awarded to researcher Tiago Ferreira, PhD in Biomedical Sciences, for the development of a project dedicated to the study of pancreatic cancer. The work aims to identify and characterise murine models that reproduce this disease in humans, allowing for a deeper understanding of its molecular and cellular mechanisms, including gender-related differences.

This distinction highlights CITAB's role in promoting interdisciplinary research with an impact on health and society, contributing to the advancement of science and the development of new approaches to fighting cancer.
