Ana Barros Presents the EU-GIFT European Alliance in an Interview with Antena 1 

Ana Barros, Coordinator of the EU-GIFT European Alliance at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), was interviewed by Antena 1, where she presented the Alliance’s main objectives and highlighted its expected impact on education, research, and innovation. 

During the interview, she explained that EU-GIFT brings together seven universities from seven European countries with the aim of strengthening international cooperation in the fields of viticulture, oenology, sustainable food chains, food technology, food quality and safety, and management. UTAD plays a leading role within the Alliance, being responsible for its research and innovation strategy and for the establishment of a joint research centre. 

Among the initiatives planned are the development of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), micro-credentials, new joint master's degrees, and an international doctoral programme. These initiatives aim to promote academic mobility, strengthen students' skills, and foster closer collaboration between universities, industry, and other strategic stakeholders. 

Throughout the interview, Ana Barros also highlighted that the Alliance will contribute to the development of joint solutions to address global challenges, such as climate change and the sustainability of food systems, while simultaneously attracting students, researchers, and new opportunities to the region.
