The CITAB Phytochemicals Laboratory played a particularly significant role at the 29th Luso-Galician Chemistry Meeting, reaffirming the scientific dynamism and quality of the research carried out in the area of valorising by-products from the wine sector and other agri-food sectors.


The group presented a total of ten scientific papers, divided into three oral presentations and seven poster presentations.

The oral presentations were given by: Professor Ana Barros, head of the Phytochemicals Laboratory; Nuno Silva, PhD student, and Mafalda Cunha, Master's student, the latter two supervised by Prof. Ana Barros.

The papers presented, resulting from ongoing research projects, stood out for their scientific relevance, innovation and contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the area of bioactive compounds, the valorisation of agri-food by-products and applications in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors.

The strong presence at the event reflects the Phytochemicals Laboratory's commitment to research excellence, advanced training for young researchers and active collaboration with the scientific community.
