UTAD is part of the International Oak Society
CITAB researcher João Fidalgo Carvalho played a role in the research and development related to oak ecosystems that contributed to UTAD becoming part of the International Oak Society.
UTAD is part of the International Oak Society based on work developed with California Oaks and the California Wildlife Foundation (Berkeley) in California, USA. This is made possible by the research, development, and dissemination activities related to oak / Quercus ecosystems, which have been developed and coordinated by CITAB researcher João Fidalgo Carvalho. This is a network for exchanging knowledge and experiences, where oak / Quercus forests play an essential role as habitats and valuable resources for ecosystem services, socio-cultural, and economic benefits. The network covers four major areas of intervention: updating knowledge, disseminating information to the public, supporting the planning of education processes, and providing support materials on the benefits of protecting oak / Quercus forests.
