REGADOURO

With a view to promoting environmental and economic efficiency in the sector, the REGADOURO project's fundamental objectives are not only to increase knowledge about the reuse of treated water in irrigation, but also to encourage the use of nutrients and fertilizers present in it, relying for this purpose on UTAD's scientific knowledge, ADVID's technical support and Veolia's technological contribution.

The consortium made up of ADVID - Cluster da Vinha e do Vinho, Águas do Norte, Poças - Sociedade Vinícola Terras de Valdigem (SVTV), the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) and Veolia Portugal intends to implement a pilot plant, from which it will be possible to irrigate vineyards using wastewater treated at one of the wastewater treatment plants that make up the multi-municipal water supply and sanitation system in northern Portugal, and which will also make it possible to use the nutrients and fertilizers present in it.
