SHARE OF KNOWLEDGE FOR AGRI-FOOD BY-PRODUCTS VALORISATION THROUGH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TOWARD LIVESTOCK FEED AND HEALTH

European agri-food sector produces almost 1.3 billion Tons of wastes/year, mainly addressed to disposal causing deleterious impact. In the meanwhile, animal production is conditioned by the availability and cost of livestock feeds. This constitutes an opportunity to transform agro-food wastes in a sustainable source of high value nutrients. This Action is aimed to gather a multidisciplinary team with expertise on agro-food waste valorisation and animal sciences to share knowledge and create innovative solutions in this field concerning to the design of added-value commodities for livestock nutrition and health. Scientific activities will be focused on the improvement of management procedures to integrate the agro-food co-products and develop solutions applicable by the farming system as a contribution to sustainable production of protein-rich foods, boosting the competitiveness of the companies that will collaborate over the 4-years Action.
